The man who made “Nibiru” a household name was Zecharia Sitchin , an author and linguist. He independently translated Mesopotamian clay tablets from the 3rd millennium BCE and published The 12th Planet in 1976.

Sitchin claimed the gods of Sumerian myth, the Anunnaki , were actually extraterrestrials from Planet Nibiru. He proposed they visited Earth 450,000 years ago to mine gold needed to sustain Nibiru’s atmosphere. To handle the grueling labor, they supposedly engineered primitive humans through genetic manipulation, creating a slave race—us.

He identified Nibiru as the “twelfth celestial body” (including the Sun, Moon, and Pluto), as depicted in a specific Sumerian astronomical map.

2. The Scenario: A 3,600-Year Cycle of Erasure

The terror of Nibiru lies in its extreme orbit and massive scale.

According to lore, Nibiru is 4 to 5 times larger than Earth with 20 to 25 times its mass. If such a gargantuan object entered the inner solar system, its gravitational pull would wreak havoc on all planetary orbits:
