Blank Room Soup: The Tortured Smile of the Void

1. The RayRay Costumes: A Mocking Comfort

The most disturbing element of the video occurs when two strange characters emerge from the shadows behind the man. These costumes—large-headed, bug-eyed mascots known as “RayRay”—do not attack him. Instead, they stroke his head and pat his back in a grotesque mimicry of comfort.

The gap between the “kindness” of the costumes and the “absolute terror” of the man creates a visceral revulsion. The costumes’ static, painted-on smiles serve as a mockery of the man’s genuine human suffering.

2. The Legend: What Was in the Soup?

The viral popularity of the video is tied to a horrific urban legend that surfaced alongside it:

“The man is a kidnap victim who has been starved for days. He is being forced to eat a soup made from the remains of his own family, while his captors watch and ‘comfort’ him in costume for their own amusement.”

While there is no forensic evidence to support this claim, the man’s emotional state appears so authentic that millions of viewers accepted this narrative as the “secret truth” of the video’s origin on the Dark Web.

3. The Origin: Stolen Art and Stolen Identities

The “physical” origin of the video was eventually traced to the studio of Raymond Persi , an artist and animator whose work includes credits for Disney. He confirmed that the costumes were indeed his creations, characters used for performance art and music videos.

However, Persi’s account added a new layer of mystery:

“Those costumes were mine, but they were stolen from my studio. I didn’t make those videos. I have no idea who took the costumes, who the man in the video is, or what they were doing with my work.”

This revelation suggested that a thief—or a group of them—had used stolen art to film something far more sinister than Persi ever intended, potentially crossing the line into real-world abduction and psychological torture.

4. The Loop: A Digital Ghost

To this day, the identity of the man and the intent of the “Soup” videos remain unknown. The original clips are deleted and mirrored across the web in a perpetual cycle of re-uploads.

When you sit down to eat alone tonight, you might find yourself glancing at the shadows behind you. You might wonder if the door is truly locked. And you might wonder: if someone were to walk in and place a bowl in front of you, would you be brave enough to ask what’s inside?
