SCP-1000: Bigfoot

SCP-1000 is not a mere animal. It is the remnant of a highly intelligent, technologically advanced species that ruled this planet long before humanity ever mastered fire.

1. Children of the Night: The Bio-Tech Golden Age

Tens of thousands of years ago, while humans were still shivering in caves, SCP-1000—known to themselves as the “Children of the Night”—had built a global civilization.

Unlike human technology based on stone and steel, their science was focused entirely on Biotechnology . Their cities were not built; they were grown from genetically engineered flora and fauna. They possessed a depth of harmony with the natural world that modern humanity, in its industrial arrogance, cannot even begin to comprehend.

2. The “Day of Flowers”: Humanity’s Original Sin

In that era, humans were little more than servants or pets to the Children of the Night. However, through the aid of a mysterious “external force,” humanity launched a global uprising.

Using the Children’s own life-sculpting technology against them, humans deployed a “Logic Weapon”—a genetic virus that permanently shattered the intelligence and memory of the SCP-1000 species.

This event, known as the Day of Flowers , resulted in the death of 99% of their population. The survivors were reduced to the state of simple-minded apes, forever stripped of the knowledge of who they once were. The “Bigfoot” we see today is a species living in an endless, forced exile within their own minds.

Overgrown organic ruins.

3. The Awakening: Blood Memories Returning

After millennia of silence, recent reports suggest that SCP-1000 individuals are beginning to regain their lost intelligence and speech.

They are meeting in secret, singing old songs, and attempting to re-assemble fragments of their lost civilization. The Foundation maintains a Keter-level alert because they fear the Children of the Night are preparing to reclaim their throne. Conversations with recovered individuals are often met with profound sadness rather than anger.

One recovered message reads: “We loved you. Why did you do this to us?”

4. The Hidden Owners of the Earth

The reason SCP-1000 is classified as “non-existent” by the world’s governments is not due to a lack of evidence. It is because the Foundation has systematically erased their history to protect the status of humanity as the “rightful” masters of the planet.

When you see something in the woods that looks too big and too human to be a bear, remember: you are not looking at a monster. You are looking at a king whose crown was stolen by a thief—and who is finally starting to remember how to take it back.
